Internal Clubs
Below are details of just some of the internal clubs we offer throughout the year.
Choir
The choir rehearses once a week at lunchtime and after school on Tuesdays. Anyone in KS2 can join the choir – it is a fun club for all and usually has 50 or 60 members.
The choir likes to perform and usually has many opportunities throughout the year – Christmas carol concert, entertaining at Christmas lunches (Bucks Vision and St Andrew’s Church).
Some years we attend VIAM (Voice in a Million) at Wembley Arena. We also feature in the Orchestra Summer Concert.
Orchestra
The orchestra rehearses before school on Wednesday morning. The music is arranged specially, and can be simplified for beginners or made more complicated for experts! Most children join in Year 4 though. The orchestra works through a variety of pieces over the year and puts on an annual concert during the summer term.
An orchestra of this type is unusual for a primary school – we are lucky to have almost a quarter of Key Stage 2 learning an instrument in school. Our children are also encouraged to try out the local music centre orchestra at Amersham.
Wildlife Watch
In this lunchtime club, children from all year groups can explore our outdoor environment and learn about what they find and how to protect it.
Football
Our football club is run by AMA Sports and is offered to years 5 and 6. Boys and girls are welcome to join the club and may be selected to join the school team which competes regularly with other local schools.
Netball
KS2 Netball Club runs at Stoke Poges School on Wednesday afternoons at 3.15pm to 4.15pm.
KS1 Library Club
Our KS1 children can spend time in our library in this lunchtime club, listening to stories and talking about the books they love.
Gardening Club
We are very proud of our school garden, having last year, won first prize in the Stoke Poges, Wexham and Fulmer Horticultural Society Schools Cup. The club is offered to KS2 children.
