Online Safety

Technology is an ever growing and central part to the children of today. Online Safety is taught to all pupils at The Stoke Poges School and is embedded in our Computing curriculum.

We can only be successful as a community in keeping children safe online if we work together to ensure all E-Safety messages are consistent. It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online, whilst also following our Stoke Poges School Values.

We want our pupils to appreciate the knowledge that the Internet holds and the fun they can have, but to also understand the dangers that there are. Our Computing lessons provide regular reminders of appropriate behaviour and browsing habits and we also display posters across the school. Whilst Online Safety features frequently in our Computing curriculum, we also emphasise its importance in our Online Safety week, which takes place in February each year.

We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored both internally and externally, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any Online Safety incidents are recorded and managed by the Computing Team.

We are members of the National Online Safety scheme which supports parents and families and provides them with tools to support children with online safety.  The website provides an interactive online workshop for all our parents and carers and the course can be taken at your own convenience.  It covers:

  • Information about online dangers and the newest platforms
  • What online risks to look out for and how to protect your child

Within our Computing curriculum students are reminded of their individual online responsibilities and how to report any issues in school or through the link to the CEOP website:

If you are concerned about anything regarding online safety, cyberbullying and social media please let a member of staff know. This will then be passed to Mr Follant to follow up.

Parents can find more information on how to keep your child safe online by logging onto The National Online Safety website. Please speak to the school office about how to access your account.
